I got married on the beach, about 8 hours flight from family and friends, on a fab african island (Zanzibar), some friends/family had said they'd come, none did (not a cheap place to fly to!), the day was absolutely magic for the both of us, didn't even register our family/friends weren't there, but there again my hubby and I weren't getting married for them so it mattered very little who was there. We did however throw a party when we got back, put our wedding frocks on again (him a cream indian type long shirt and trouser, me a greek style dress that a friend made for me after I saw the dress on Kylie Minogue), had a buffet for food, so no need to do sitting plans, hired a DJ and a hall (which my mum and I decorated), and we'd put a tv/video in a corner of the room, along with all the photos (taken by local people) and played our video (made by locals) on a loop so everyone got to see the actual day. It was a fantastic evening, really felt like we had just got married again. So see, it can be done ;-) Good luck with it all! Well, I reckon it is actually oh so simple.
